28-year-old man convicted of knife murder at Goldthorpe party

A man has been found guilty of murdering another man who was stabbed to death at a house party.

Lazarus Mokono, 26, was fatally shot during a meeting at a house in Co-op Street, Barnsley, on February 21.

Emergency services attempted to rescue Mr Mokono, known as “Laz”, after he was called to the house in the early hours of the morning, but he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly afterwards.

Sipho Pfukani, 28, of Oldham House Lane, Womwell, denied murdering Mr Mokono but was found guilty by a jury after a two-week trial at Sheffield Crown Court.
