finance minister Bezalel Smotrich started crying while speaking at a press conference before the party meeting on Monday.

Smotrich complained about wave of deaths of IDF soldiers in the last few days, but said that special attention should be paid to their ideals.

Slander against religious Zionists

Smotrich began to attack “slanderers” trying to discredit his community as “death lovers, messianists, delusional.”

He stated that these slander come from the extreme sections of Israeli society and that the majority of Israelis reject these insults against his community and condemn those who utter them.

Smotrich stressed that the “vast” majority of Israelis “cherish and value” the contributions of the religious Zionist community.

“Today, more than ever, I am proud to be part of this community, proud to promote the world of Torah, educational institutions, settlements, cooperation and piety.
