Akron Public Schools employee placed on leave after ‘inappropriate social media post’

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) – An Akron Public Schools employee has been placed on administrative leave for a social media post, according to a statement released by Akron Public Schools Monday afternoon.

Akron Public Schools said it learned of an “inappropriate social media post involving a staff member” Sunday evening.

The district took immediate action in response, placing the employee on leave and “notifying the appropriate authorities,” according to the statement.

When 19 News asked Akron Police about the situation, they were not aware of any charges or warrants against the Akron Public Schools employee.

Garfield Community Learning Center parents received an email Monday morning echoing Akron Public Schools’ message of swift action and concern for student well-being.
