San Francisco Giants ‘will take notice’ of top player in free agency

This is a new era for San Francisco Giantsone they need to knock out of the park. After a disappointing 2024 campaign, they made some changes to the front office and more changes will be made in the coming days and weeks.

Improving their composition has been a challenge over the past few winters. That could be an issue again this offseason, but if the Giants want to be as good as they can be, they can’t make excuses.

While making changes to the front office made some sense, there was also an argument that they should have waited a year before making any moves.

San Francisco is in the midst of its biggest offseason in a long time, and now that there are several new faces in the front office, these questions become even more pressing.

Whenever they hire a general manager, the Giants will have an opportunity to show fans that they are a different organization than they have been in the last few campaigns.

There’s no better way to do this than to sign Juan Soto to a mega deal.

There have been conflicting reports about San Francisco’s interest, but according to Bob Nightengale of USA TodayThe Giants are expected to be among the teams joining the bidding war.

The Yankees have made no secret of their desire to bring him back. The Mets, with the richest owner in baseball, Steve Cohen, may beckon. The Philadelphia Phillies are expected to actively pursue him to team up with Bohr client Bryce Harper. “The Toronto Blue Jays and San Francisco Giants, who were left at the altar in the battle for Ohtani last winter, will now turn their attention to Soto.”

It remains unclear how expensive his potential contract would be, but it’s safe to say $600 million could be a starting point.

Soto had an incredible postseason, which only increased his value. Consider the fact that he just turned 26 years old, and there’s reason to believe he could be in line for the most expensive contract in Major League Baseball history.

San Francisco hasn’t been cheap lately, which bodes well for them in this situation.

Soto could welcome a return to the West Coast, and if other teams in California don’t offer him a big enough contract, the Giants could be his preferred destination.

His situation will likely last several months as many teams show interest in the young star.
