Joe Rogan showed Donald Trump ‘unedited’. Millions loved it

The long-awaited interview with Donald Trump Joe Rogan took the internet by storm, racking up tens of millions of views on YouTube within the first 48 hours of its airing.

Not only is the sit-down podcast a far cry from the standard media interviews we’re accustomed to from presidential candidates, but the full three-hour episode featured an “unedited” interview with Trump that drew widespread praise from viewers.

Trump’s appearance on The Joe Rogan Experiencethe world’s largest podcast, has viewership and engagement rates that traditional news networks can only dream of. It has been viewed more than 33 million times on YouTube, liked 1.7 million times and received more than 400,000 comments.

This is just part of Rogan’s podcast audience, this episode is also available on Spotify and Apple Podcasts. These platforms do not display listener data for individual episodes, but Rogan’s podcast is estimated to have 11 million Spotify listeners per episode.

The numbers far exceed Trump’s previous podcast appearances during the 2024 campaign, including his appearance on Last weekend with Theo Von, which has been viewed 14 million times on YouTube.

The episode was also viewed more times than all prime-time newscasts for all major cable and network television stations combined.

According to AdWeek, which cited Nielsen data, for the week beginning September 23, 2024, ABC The news received an average of 7.4 million viewers per broadcast. NBK 5.9 million, and CBS 4.6 million.

AdWeek also recorded Nielsen ratings for news broadcasts on major cable networks in September. Fox News its prime-time news broadcast averaged 2.5 million viewers, MSNBC 1.4 million, and CNN 853,000.

Thus, the total audience of the six channels in prime time will be 22.65 million viewers per broadcast.

Viewers praise ‘unedited’ Trump

The most liked comments on the YouTube video came from listeners praising the format, which shows a long, unedited conversation with the presidential candidate, rather than the short sound bites that traditional news outlets and social media usually show.

User @catoftruth1044 commented on the video: “Podcasts are now officially more important than traditional media.” The comment received more than 300,000 likes.

Another user, @CB-wy2jq, wrote: “Unedited/uncensored interviews should be required of all candidates for political office.” The comment received more than 140,000 likes.

User @littlemeowrighty’s comment “3 hours unedited… that’s what we should expect from journalism” received 51,000 likes.

Rogan’s biggest YouTube episode: his September 2018 interview with the tech billionaire. Elon Muskwhich endorsed Trump in his 2024 presidential bid has been viewed more than 68 million times, more than any 2024 presidential debate and more than the 2024 Super Bowl.

In the show Tesla, SpaceXand the owner of X is known smoked marijuana and drank whiskey with the owner.

Kamala Harris’ campaign confirmed that Vice President I won’t sit through the interview with Rogan before the election, citing scheduling difficulties.

Americans increasingly get their news from YouTube

A September 2020 Pew Research study found that 26 percent of Americans get their news from YouTube.

While only 13 percent of people who said they get their news from YouTube said the site is their main source of news, 59 percent said it is still an important way to keep up.

The survey was conducted from January 6 to January 20, 2020, and included 12,638 U.S. adults.
