MCC members vote to accept 51% stake in The Hundred’s London Spirit

: Members of Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) have voted to accept a 51 per cent stake in The Hundred London Spirit franchise.

The resolution received 4,897 votes out of 6,037 cast at a special general meeting of the MCC, which owns Lord’s cricket ground where the London Spirit are based.

If necessary, the MCC can exercise the right of veto in relation to the investment partner, the resolution says.

The club’s future involvement in the London Spirit franchise will be transferred to the management team, MCC said in a statement on Tuesday.

Franchises competing in the 100-ball format have attracted significant interest in investment, with the England and Wales Cricket Board looking to sell stakes in some of its eight teams over the next year.

ECB chief Richard Gould said earlier this month that the governing body was in talks with around 100 interested parties who want to take stakes in the franchises.
