Vinicius Jr breaks silence after being snubbed for Ballon d’Or 2024

Yesterday, the Manchester City and Spain midfielder attended the 2024 Ballon d’Or ceremony. Rodri received the prestigious men’s award. Rodri won real MadridVinicius Jr will receive the prize despite the Brazil international being a favorite at the annual gala.

There was plenty of support for the 24-year-old, whose 24 goals and 11 assists helped Los Blancos win La Liga, the UEFA Champions League and the Copa del Rey last season, as well as the coveted trophy.

Having learned before the ceremony that Vinicius would not receive the award, Real Madrid representatives decided to boycott the event. The club said it felt disrespected and decided not to travel.

Shortly after it was announced that Rodri had won the 2024 Ballon d’Or, Vinicius broke his silence and sent a strong message to his followers on X. He wrote: “Eu Farei 10x se for Preciso. They’re not ready. (I’ll do this 10 times if I have to. They’re not ready.)”

At the time of writing, the post has been viewed more than 87 million times.

Clearly aiming to compete for the Ballon d’Or next year, Vinicius has made a strong start to this season for the club, scoring 8 goals and providing 7 assists in all competitions.

His standout performance of the season so far came against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on October 22, where he scored a hat-trick to help Real Madrid come from behind to claim all three points.

Vinicius will now be looking to increase his goal contribution when Real Madrid travel to Valencia this weekend in La Liga. Los Blancos will be looking to bounce back from their devastating 4-0 defeat to Barcelona last time out.
