Learn repair skills at the Fix-It Fair in Springfield this November.

For the second time in two years, the City of Springfield is planning to host the Waste Wise Lane District Fix-It Fair, coordinated by the Connected Lane District.

Waste Wise says the fair promotes the idea of reusing and repairing by offering participants the opportunity to repair household items and learn some DIY repair skills.

The Springfield event will focus on repairing household items, electronics, power tools, textiles, bicycles and skateboards. Repairs take an average of 30 minutes and participants may only bring items that can be reasonably carried.

The free public event will take place on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at Connected Lane County’s Spark at Booth Kelly, located at 303 S 5th St. STE 150, in Springfield.

Connected Lane District Deputy Director Justin Thibedeaux said the Spark facility would be an ideal location for the fair.

“Since the opening of the first Spark facility in 2021, Connected Lane District has become a destination for youth ages 14 to 24 to explore creativity and innovation using technology,” Thibedeaux said. “We’re excited to use Spark’s tools and equipment by opening this space to the Fix-It-Fair community, bringing people together to explore the space, have a good time, and repair household items to keep them out of landfills.”

The fair is open from 11:00 to 14:00.
