The 35-year-old actress and her longtime boyfriend, an Olympic snowboarder. Shaun White38, got engaged in New York at the end of October, in accordance with Fashion.

The proposal took place under an arch of white roses at the Golden Swan restaurant, where White presented Dobrev with a 5-carat diamond ring from Lorraine Schwartz. The sparkler features a single oval shaped diamond set on a yellow gold band.

“I went into shock,” Dobrev told Surprise. “I just froze and stared at him.” Later in the evening, the couple’s friends joined them at the restaurant, where everyone celebrated with caviar and champagne.

To carry out this proposal, White asked his publicist to send Dobrev a fake invitation to an intimate CFDA meeting.Fashion dinner with Anna Wintour, according to Fashion. “He made the invitation seem so legitimate,” Dobrev said. When she arrived at the restaurant, only White and the photographer were there. “He said all the right things,” Dobrev recalled to the publication.

The couple told Fashion that before White popped the question, he had to hide the ring in different places so Dobrev wouldn’t find it. He first kept it in a safe and then put it in his sock drawer. He eventually put it in the tool shed. When he told Dobrev that’s where it all ended, she was stunned, but he told her he knew she’d never look there.

White shared the good news on Instagram with a series of photos and the caption: “She said YES”

Dobrev shared the same photoscaptioning his post: “Rest in peace boy, hello groom.”

They first met at an awards ceremony in 2012, but they weren’t officially introduced until 2019. In the early days of quarantine, Dobrev and White were photographed riding bikes together in Malibu.

In April 2020, White and Dobrev decided to make their romance official on Instagram by posting a message. funny video it shows Dobrev trying to do her laundry. Although White’s face was not visible at the demonstration, fans quickly noticed the snowboarder’s tattoo and freckled arms. “Nina has just been so supportive and wonderful throughout this whole process,” White told PEOPLE in January 2022. “During the pandemic, she was my savior—she truly made this time in my life special.”

The Vampire Diaries gave fans a glimpse into their playful relationship when she posted a video montage of White’s September 2023 birthday celebrations.

The fun video, set to Robin Schultz’s “Sugar,” included party games, dancing and boating adventures. The five-time Olympian also cut the cake with a sword that looked like a Panda Express meal box.

“Happy (belated) birthday sugar how do you fly like that???” she signed video from instagramreferring to the lyrics of the song “Sugar”. “We want to stay playful and young no matter how old we get… ”

In January 2024, Dobrev reported that White coordinated a surprise trip To Disneyland for her 35th birthday. The actress shared Instagram a carousel of vacation photos of her celebrating with friends, a group that included Julianne Hough, Keeley Sperry And Lauren Parkesian.
