A 77-year-old Gainesville woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a vehicle.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – A woman was taken to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle near Publix in Gainesville Thursday morning.

A 77-year-old woman was walking near Publix on Tower Road just after 8 a.m. when she walked into the path of a vehicle to cross the street and was shot, according to Florida Highway Patrol troopers.

FHP troopers said the woman was seriously injured and taken to the hospital. No one else was injured.
