Nevada residents can visit the Mob Museum for free on Kefauver Day

Nevada residents will once again be able to attend for free. Mafia Museum in downtown Las Vegas for Kefauver Day next month.

Residents with a valid ID will receive free admission to the museum on Friday, Nov. 15, the museum announced. Non-residents will be able to use the buy one, get one ticket.

Kefauver Day credits Senator Estes Kefauver of Tennessee, who led well-publicized congressional investigations into organized crime.

The U.S. Senate Select Committee on Crimes in Interstate Commerce, or Kefauver Committee, held televised hearings that were viewed by 30 million people in the United States, greatly increasing public awareness of the Mafia’s activities.

The Mob Museum celebrates Kefauver Day to commemorate the committee hearings held in the museum’s courtroom on November 15, 1950.

In addition to free admission, the Cadillac Club of Las Vegas’ Vintage Car Show will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting.

The museum itself will be open from 9:00 to 21:00.
