Free Grand Valley Transit Bus Rides on Election Day

GRAND JUNCTION, CO (KJCT) – Grand Valley Transit (GVT) is offering free rides in November. This is available to travelers in two specific cases.

First

On election day, anyone can ride for free. (November 5) Just board and ignore the ticket counter. The bus driver will only count the number of passengers who took advantage of the free ride.

“The idea is to celebrate democracy and reduce barriers to people getting to the ballot box,” said Andrew Gingerich, transit planner for Grand Valley Transit.

Second

Veterans can also ride for free in November. All you have to do is tell the bus driver that you are a veteran and they will let you through. GVT relies on an honor system.
