Will MAGA act like a fool if Kamala wins? Don’t sleep, they just might

Imagine it’s the morning after the election is finally called and you wake up to the sounds of jubilation coming from your text messages, your social media feed erupts with celebration, and newspaper headlines read: KAMALA HARRIS VICTORY!

You think this is the end of the bitter saga of Donald Trump. But don’t sleep… if domestic terrorism on January 6th was any clue, this dude probably won’t rest even in the face of clear defeat. He didn’t do it last time, and there’s no reason to expect him to do it now, just like his army of MAGA lackeys.

Despite the lack of concrete evidence of widespread fraud anywhere, people from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis to Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance, who is running for vice president, insist there was some. They are inciting what some fear is a repeat of the US Capitol riot, so much so that security is enhanced for the December elections.

There is a long list of people who personally believe Trump will win. If they had disappeared after Harris won, there would have been no problem.

But there is no reason to expect them to do so. In June, Trump himself all but said that he wouldn’t accept the results if he loses. “That’s the only way to lose, because they cheat,” he said at a September rally in Michigan.

Consider the social media post below. These people are predicting violence if things go wrong, still under the delusional guise that the 2020 election was “stolen.”

In 2021, Liz Cheney, former House Republican Committee Chair tried to turn off the noise. “There have been more than 60 court cases in which judges, including judges appointed by President Trump and other Republican presidents, in many cases looked at the evidence and said the fraud was not widespread,” she said.

But you best believe there are people who categorically reject this and not only expect to lose, but are planning to challenge Harris’ victory. How wild things will get remains to be seen, but knowing the racist sentiment that persists in this country, there will be at least as many people furious about the election of a black woman as there were when a black man was elected.

This race is within the razor-thin margin of the vote, and it is still unknown who the winner will be. If it’s Harris, we don’t know if people will be driven to deadly violence like they were in 2021. We hope not. If the GOP retains the House, Speaker Mike Johnson, another election denier, could potentially try some congressional debate delay Harris from certifying the results, which would be her job as vice president.

Unfortunately, we have come to the point where in this country we actually expect political abdication, which may become violent due to political beliefs becoming religious dogma. Some of these people are Joker-level crazy, and it wouldn’t be surprising if they did something even stranger than January 6th. Just keep your eyes open and be prepared so you don’t have to prepare.

Will the cooler ones win? I hope so, but that’s only if the far right doesn’t call them out on a platter.
