Dave Roberts and Aaron Boone share a helpful moment after the Dodgers-Yankees World Series

For five games of the 2024 World Series, Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts and New York Yankees captain Aaron Boone sat in their dugouts and tried to outsmart each other on their way to the championship. Roberts won the battle and the war as Dodgers win World Series title with Wednesday’s 7-6 win over the Yankees in the Bronx.

But don’t think the rivalry between Roberts and Boone has in any way affected the respect the two coaches have for each other. After the game, the two coaches met outside the visiting clubhouse and hugged tightly. Chelsea Janes from Washington Post I managed to photograph this pleasant moment.

Roberts, who spoke to the media after the World Series win, told reporters that Boone was “looking for him.”

“Aaron is an absolute professional,” Roberts said. “He tracked me down. I wanted to congratulate me personally. We have a long history of rivalry with each other. Mutual respect.”

“And I think Aaron is the only one in baseball who can really relate to my job in the sense that either you win a World Series championship or you fail and don’t perform well in your respective markets.”

Both Roberts and Boone could teach a course on how to handle wins and losses in professional sports. Kudos to both of them for handling the World Series aftermath with class.
