Summerville Siblings Plead Guilty to Charges in Million Counterfeit Viagra Conspiracy

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) – Two Summerville brothers face federal prison time after pleading guilty in a $35 million scheme to sell counterfeit Viagra.

The U.S. Department of Justice said Ibrahim Shedid, 29, and Ahmed Shedid, 35, both of Summerville, pleaded guilty to charges of conspiracy to sell and traffic in counterfeit goods.

Officials said Ibrahim Shedid owned and operated Big Boss Puff Stuff Smoke Shop in North Charleston, and Ahmed Shedid owned and operated A2Z Warehouse.

Prosecutors said the brothers worked together to distribute and sell Viagra pills in convenience stores, knowing they were counterfeit.

In January, law enforcement intercepted a shipment of 19 bottles of counterfeit pills that were headed to a smoke shop. This reportedly led to the discovery of a warehouse linked to the brothers that contained even more counterfeit Viagra.

Both siblings face a maximum penalty of five years in prison, a fine of $250,000 in restitution and three years of post-prison supervision.
