What kind of voter are you? Take Our Interactive Quiz – NBC New York

We asked our viewers about their thoughts and feelings as they headed to the polls. The results show that voters are grappling with key policy issues, managing various emotions and preparing to make their voices heard.

Through a series of charts, we’ll find out who votes, why, and which issues matter most. From generational divides to the influence of social media, these charts shed light on what shapes your collective voice.

Towards the end of this article you will be able to see how your own voting attitudes and behavior fit into the bigger picture.

What makes you vote

An overwhelming 98% of respondents plan to vote.well above the national turnout of 67% in 2020 and 60% in 2016.. When asked why they vote, our community cited reasons ranging from civic duty to specific political issues.

Issues that shape your voice

When asked to choose the most important issue influencing their vote, 36% of respondents named the economy. Abortion and reproductive rights came in second with 24%, and immigration followed with 11%.

How do you feel about Election Day?

Elections are not only about politics and candidates, but also about emotions. We asked you to describe your feelings about the upcoming election in one word.

Anxiety dominates voter sentiment (32%), followed by fear and disappointment.

However, a significant portion of the population remains optimistic: 25% feel hopeful and 5% are encouraged. Only a small proportion report indifference.

Information overload

The way we consume news and information can significantly influence our political views.

How much time do voters spend following the news? Most of them fall into three groups: light viewers (1-3 hours per week), medium viewers (3-5 hours) and regular viewers (5-10 hours). Together, these groups make up 67% of respondents.

At the extreme, 20% read news more than 10 hours a week, while 10% spend less than an hour.

On social media, most users see limited political content: 41% report minimal exposure, 37% see a moderate amount, and only 5% say politics dominates their feeds.
