Draymond Green rants about his distaste for the tradition of doing Thunder post-game interviews

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green knows a thing or two about winning an NBA title. For this he has four championship rings.

While Green admitted he thinks it’s time for the up-and-coming Oklahoma City Thunder to chase rings, he also pointed out one thing that could be holding them back.

“The only thing that worries me a little about the OKC team is their postgame performance. Seven guys in an interview,” Green said on a recent episode of his podcast. “It takes a certain seriousness to win in this league. And there is a certain fear that teams need to instill in order to win. I just don’t know if they instill fear in teams with all the bromance and everything.” after the game.

“This is great. There is a time and a place for this. But every time someone does an interview, you have seven or eight guys (in the background)? … I’m all about having fun; It’s an 82-game season, you have to have fun, but you also have to understand that people are looking for you. That team.”

Back in January, the Thunder began a trend of televising post-game interviews with teammates and huddling around the reporter, who was often Nick Gallo of the local Bally Sports Oklahoma broadcast. Players also barked occasionally during interviews or joked with each other while the cameras were rolling.

It became a nightly tradition for the Thunder, who spent the 2023-24 season with the second-youngest roster in the league and the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference playoffs.

The Thunder have resumed their interview process for the 2024-25 season, but Green is clearly not a fan.

Green and the Warriors will take on the Thunder for the first time this season on Nov. 10 at Paycom Center. If Oklahoma City wins, maybe they’ll send a few extra players for postgame interviews just to get the hang of things.
