How to watch Florida Panthers vs Dallas Stars from Finland; FREE live stream, time

There are a few things that make Friday’s game between the Dallas Stars and the defending champion Florida Panthers unique.

First, the East Coast kickoff is at 2:00 pm ET, a time that is rarely seen for weekday games. But it’s not just any National Hockey League (NHL) play as the regular season wraps up its first month. This match will take place at the Nokia Arena in Tampere, located in southern Finland.

This is the first of two games these teams will play in the 2024 NHL Global Series in Finland. The second will begin at noon Saturday ET.

Finnish fans will be able to see two of the best teams in the NHL, with the Panthers off to a 7-3-1 start and the Stars opening the season winning seven of their first nine games.

Tickets for both games sold out quickly.

Some players from both teams call this country home. The most famous of them is Alexander Barkov from Florida, who grew up in Tampere. A crowd of 15,000 packed the building when Barkov brought the Stanley Cup there on July 31 after he became the first Finnish-born captain to win it when the Panthers defeated the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final.

The Panthers have three other players from Finland: centers Anton Lundell (Espoo) and Eetu Luostarinen (Silinyarvi), as well as defenseman Niko Mikkola (Kiiminki).

Stars center Roope Hinz is from neighboring Nokia, and teammates Miro Heiskanen (Espoo) and Esa Lindell (Vantaa) are also from Finland. Hinz played two seasons for Ilves (2013–15) and Barkov played two seasons for Tappara (2011–13) in the Liiga, the country’s top professional league.

Sam Reinhart leads the Panthers with 16 points (7 goals, 9 assists), followed by Anton Lundell (5 goals, 7 assists) and Sam Bennett (8 goals, 4 assists), both with 12 points.

Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky has played in eight games and has a 5-2-1 record and a 2.97 goals-against average.

Matt Duchene leads Dallas with 11 points (6 goals, 5 assists), followed by Logan Stankoven with 9 points (1 goal, 8 assists).

Goaltender Jake Ettinger has a 5-1 record and a 1.84 goals-against average.
