Trucker’s truck seized after police say he was drunk

A motorist called police about an erratic truck driver.

After noticing a commercial vehicle driving strangely in the area of ​​King Street and Dixie Road, the driver called Caledon Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) shortly before 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

When police located the truck, police determined the driver had been drinking alcohol.

A 49-year-old Brampton man was charged with impaired driving, failure to stop for police and impaired operation of a commercial vehicle.

The accused is due to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on November 14 to answer to the charges. His driver’s license was suspended for 90 days and his truck was impounded for seven days.

Police reiterate that under Ontario’s No Tolerance for Young, Novice and Commercial Drivers Act, a driver cannot have alcohol in their system if they:

  • age 21 or younger
  • a driver of any age holding a G1, G2, M1 or M2 license.
  • driving a vehicle that requires an AF driver’s license or commercial vehicle operator registration (CVOR)
  • driving a road construction machine
