Los Angeles Rams Press Release

Los Angeles, California – The NFL and USAA, the official partner of the NFL Salute to Service, today announced the 2024 nominees for USAA’s annual Salute to Service Award. Each year, this award recognizes NFL players, coaches, staff and alumni who have demonstrated a commitment to respecting and supporting military and veterans. The Los Angeles Rams are proud to announce quarterback Matthew Stafford as a 2024 Salute to Service Award nominee.

During Stafford’s 16-year NFL career, he has impacted a wide range of non-profit organizations and supported many causes, but what remains constant is his commitment to the military and veterans community. Since joining the Rams, Stafford has generously hosted various active-duty military personnel from California military bases, as well as veterans from Merging Vets and Player and the Gary Sinise Foundation, to games.

This season, at the Rams’ Salute to Service game on Monday, Nov. 11, Veterans Day, Stafford will host a group of young men who are deciding to do what less than 1% of Americans are willing to do – join the ranks of the United States. States Military. In addition, the Staffords worked with the Rams to create Honor Row and will host a group of Navy SEALs selected by the Navy SEAL Foundation for the Salute to Service game.

Stafford also supported the American Red Cross’ Holiday Mail for Heroes campaign and was featured on a holiday card with the caption: “From the players on the football field to the heroes defending our country and freedoms. Thank you for your service.” The Rams family, including Matthew’s wife Kelly, visited local schools to encourage children to write holiday messages of gratitude to those who serve our country. The cards were then collected and mailed to military personnel serving domestically and overseas, as well as veterans living in the United States.

Beyond what was stated above, for many years Matthew and Kelly Stafford have quietly supported military and veterans on their own, without any fanfare or publicity.

Fans have the opportunity to vote and help determine the three finalists for the award. To cast your vote for Stafford, visit NFL.com/SaluteFanVote. From now until November 30th, fans can submit one vote per day. Finalists for the award will be announced in January and the recipient will be recognized on NFL Honors, a special primetime awards ceremony that will air nationwide in February during Super Bowl LIX week.

As the sponsor of the Salute to Service Award, USAA will donate $25,000 on behalf of the recipient to official aid societies representing all branches of the U.S. military. The NFL will join USAA’s contribution by donating an additional $25,000 to the honoree’s military or veterans’ charity of choice.

The Salute to Service Award is part of the NFL and USAA’s year-round commitment to recognizing and honoring the military and veteran community.
