Retiring Goshen Fire Chief Receives State EMS Director’s Award

GOSHEN, Ind. — It was more of a treat than a stunt that retiring Goshen Fire Chief Dan Sink received on Halloween night from the State of Indiana when he received the State EMS Director’s Award on Thursday in recognition of his 43 years of service. to the department

State Ambulance Districts 1 and 2 EMS Manager Travis Clary presented the award to Sink at Goshen Mayor Gina Leichty’s office on behalf of State EMS Director Craig Kinney of the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, city officials said.

“Danny was recognized for his service as a firefighter and for promoting the ambulance service throughout Indiana,” the plaque read. “(He) is a respected provider of emergency services and contributes to the state’s ideology.”

The city says Sink joined the Goshen Fire Department in 1981 and worked as a flight paramedic with the Samaritans’ Parkview department from 1991 to 2010. He became chief in 2005 after serving as assistant chief and EMS chief.

“Chief Sink’s leadership and experience will be greatly missed,” said Mayor Leichty.

Last month, Sink was also named Indiana Fire Chief of the Year.

He plans to retire Nov. 8 and hand over command to Assistant Chief Anthony Powell.
