UK house price growth slowed to a near standstill in October after rising strongly in September.

Prices rose just 0.1 per cent over the month, bringing the average UK house price to £265,738. Prices rose 0.6 percent in September, according to mortgage lender Nationwide.

Prices rose 2.4 percent from last October, a slowdown from the 3.2 percent annual rise in September.

Economists polled by Reuters had expected growth of 2.8% year-on-year and 0.3% month-on-month.
