Man accused of 2022 Peoria murder pleads guilty

PEORIA (25News now) – A man accused of a 2022 Peoria shooting that left one person dead has pleaded guilty to first-degree murder.

Lamarion K. Wright, 19, pleaded guilty Friday, the Peoria County District Attorney’s Office said.

2022 shooting left Christopher L. Tillman, 46, is dead. It happened on Sept. 20, 2022, near Taft’s then-Peoria home.

It was the 18th homicide in Peoria that year.

Around 9 p.m. on September 20, Peoria police were called to the 600 block of Northeast Adams Street and found that Tillman had been shot four times – three in the back and once in the right arm.

He later died in hospital.

Surveillance video later obtained by police shows Wright, identified by an officer and a witness, running after Tillman with a gun in his hand and shooting him.

Wright was 16 years old at the time of the murder and was automatically charged as an adult due to his age and the charge.

His sentence was limited to 50 years in exchange for a guilty plea.

He will be sentenced on December 30.
