Bangkok Post – Scout Uniform Rules for Relaxation

The Ministry of Education will issue a Scout Dress Regulation allowing children to wear regular school clothes instead of a Scout uniform at Scout events.

Education Minister General Permpoon Chidchob said the National Scout Executive Committee is drafting a ministerial regulation to allow two types of Scout uniforms to be worn: regular and casual.

Scout uniforms will be made from flexible and durable fabric. The ministry will give schools the freedom to choose whether students can wear school uniforms or other informal clothing.

“This resolution will reduce the burden on teachers and students as they will be able to use student uniforms for scouting activities. Also, if there are ethnic students in the school, they can come in their cultural attire,” he said.

Schools in rural areas may also allow students to wear only a Scout hat and scarf with their uniform to save costs. However, the minister said students are encouraged to wear the traditional uniform on formal occasions, especially Scout Day.
