Warm October saw an increase in energy consumption

India’s electricity consumption rose marginally by about one percent to 140.47 billion units (BU) in October from a year earlier, mainly due to a heavier base effect.

During the year-ago period, electricity consumption rose more than 22 percent to 139.44 BU from 113.94 BU in October 2022. The highest daily supply (meeting peak power demand) fell to 219.22 GW in October from 221.53 GW this year. – a month ago.

Peak electricity demand reached a record high of 250 GW in May this year. The previous record high peak demand of 243.27 GW was recorded in September 2023.
