Purdue University Announces New Centers of Semiconductor Education and Excellence in India

Purdue University has announced a partnership with India that includes the creation of the Purdue India Center for Education and Engagement and the US-India Semiconductor Center of Excellence. University President Mung Chan shared these plans during a visit by Indiana Senator Todd Young and US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti.

“Purdue is excited to build on our long-standing partnerships with Indian institutions and companies across a broad range of disciplines,” Chan said. “Both our new Center for Education and Engagement in Delhi and the new US-India Semiconductor Center of Excellence, created in collaboration with IIT Hyderabad and supported by the Indian and US governments, are important steps towards expanding this strategic partnership, offering a variety of opportunities for our students and faculty and further enhancing Purdue’s global impact.”

The Purdue India Center for Education and Engagement will open a Purdue University presence in India, laying the foundation for joint degree programs in high-demand fields such as artificial intelligence, data science, semiconductors and business. These programs will be developed in collaboration with key partner institutions in India.

The announcement follows a series of meetings in late September during which the Purdue delegation interacted with Indian government officials, leading academic institutions and industry leaders in three Indian cities. Discussions focused on expanding collaboration in education, expanding joint research and development initiatives, and identifying new partnership opportunities.

Purdue University is a public research institution located in West Lafayette, Indiana, and is the flagship campus of the Purdue University System.
