LifeVacs helps save lives | News, Sports, Vacancies

Bouquets this week will go to:

Bob VanDamme, former chairman of the board of the Community Foundation of Delta County, along with Board of Trustees members Nick Chenier and Kristen Mac Arthur, recently donated LifeVacs from the community foundation’s Life Saving Program, formerly called Save a Heart, to Escanaba Department of Public Safety Director, John Goodwer, Officer Jared Hunter and Officer Kelly Kennelly.

As part of a grant from the Community Foundation of Delta County, the Escanaba Department of Public Safety received a grant for LifeVacs in April 2024, and Officer Hunter, with the assistance of Officer Kennelly, has already saved a life using it.

With the addition of the LifeVac donation program to all first responders in Delta County, the community foundation has changed its “Save a Heart” program to “Save a Life.”

If you would like to learn how you can help make our community a safer and healthier place to live, work and play, or perhaps you would like to learn more about how to start a fund and donate to a place dear to your heart, please contact with the Community Foundation at 906-786-6654, [email protected] or stop by 2420 1st Avenue South Escanaba.

Every Saturday, the Daily Press salutes individuals and groups from our region who have made a very positive impact on our lives.

We determine the recipients of our bouquets in one of two ways: from the Daily Press news pages and from nominations submitted by our readers.

Send us a card or letter indicating your nomination and detailing what they did. Please include your name, address and telephone number. Send nominations to Saturday Bouquets, The Daily Press, 600 Ludington Street, Escanaba, MI 49829.

They can also be sent to us by going to our website www.dailypress.net and clicking on the “Submit News” button. Once there, click “Bouquets” and follow the simple instructions.
