Sensitive roommate demands that homeowners not use the bathroom after 10 p.m.

Living with roommates is rarely easy, which is partly why it’s usually only done out of necessity. But some neighbors seem to go out of their way to be the worst people to live with.

In the case of one Reddit user, her roommate seems completely oblivious to not only how unreasonable her demands are, but also how annoying she is she there is something to live with.

The roommate demands that the homeowners not use the shower or toilet after 10 p.m.

Now, with all due respect, the fact that this is even a question, someone saw fit write to Reddit The advice is absurd at first glance. This is the kind of demand that you absolutely refuse to satisfy with any answer other than this gif of Bugs Bunny saying “NO.”

An alternative is to take a one-hour shower followed by 15 consecutive toilet flushes every evening at exactly 10:00 pm until the person leaves. But that’s just me, a certified Bad Person.

Anyway! The situation that the Redditor described in her post is complex. She moved home due to medical debt, and she and her parents took in a housemate, presumably because they all needed the money.

The problem is that the roommate is so sensitive to noise that she “asked us to adjust her shower schedule to take it into account.” And this causes serious problems.

Homeowners work late and have to resort to “30-second showers” at night.

With six people living in the house, the roommate’s demands are challenging and quite disruptive.

“My dad, who owns our house, comes home from work at the hospital at 12 o’clock at night or sometimes later,” which means that to shower after his shift, he takes a 30-second shower “with essentially little water pressure.” drizzling rain” so as not to upset your roommate.

“This rule that she is trying to force on all of us seems extremely disappointing and inconvenient,” the Redditor wrote. And the roommate’s demands don’t end there – in another postshe detailed how her roommate insisted they not use the living room after 10 p.m.

However, she allowed the house to be used after 10 pm if they cleaned it with her first. But then she goes off and sleeps outside in a tent or van, which “makes us all feel guilty and uncomfortable.”

However, the roommate herself is very noisy until late at night.

This story is already funny and the sassiness of this roommate is a 15 out of 10, but it actually gets worse. “It’s disappointing that she showers whenever she wants, sometimes even at 12:30 at night,” the woman wrote.

And she is generally very noisy. She uses an electric toothbrush in the hallways, constantly opens and closes doors loudly, and often talks loudly on the phone after midnight.

“I basically told her that I couldn’t guarantee that I would be able to accommodate this request, and sometimes I would have to take care of hygiene after 10 pm,” the woman recalls. This is much more polite than one should behave in such an absurd situation.

Her parents are “spineless” and refuse to stand up to her roommate, even though they own the house.

As terrible as this roommate is—and she is a monster, we can probably all agree—is she really the problem? Or the redditor’s parents? As she wrote in her post, “I put up with her because my parents hate confrontation and want to keep the peace.”

But being conflict avoider, people pleaser this is the easiest way to get taken advantage of and get passed over, and it seems pretty obvious what’s going on here.

Several people have understandably advised the Redditor to just let the woman sleep outside in her tent if she’s going to act so ridiculously – which is perfectly reasonable and is probably preferable at this point!

“Unfortunately, my parents are extremely spineless,” the woman replied. “I told them so many times to stop putting up with this nonsense.”

This brings us to the real lesson: people treat you the way you tell them to treat you, or more accurately, the way you allow them to treat you.

Of course, some people are just terrible people who victimize others. But more than that, they’re like this woman—selfish, entitled, and willing to take every inch other people give them and run with it. However, no polite agreement will satisfy her, and for her part, the Redditor wrote that she stopped following the rules, no matter what happens.

We hope her parents will join soon too – or better yet, learn to stand up for yourself and drive the woman out of the house they have so she can live alone.
