Celtics vs Hornets continued

Celtics vs Hornets continued

Hornets (2-3) return home Saturday night to host the Boston Celtics (5-1).

The two teams met last night as the Celtics pulled away late to secure a 124-109 win. The Hornets will not only be looking to get revenge on the defending champions, but they will also be looking to get back to .500 in a young season under first-year coach Charles Lee.

Here are my picks for today’s game. Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook.

1 star – not very sure
2 stars – a little confident
3 stars – Fairly confident
4 stars – very confident
5 stars – blocking must occur

3-star game on Hornets (+11): Winning games in the NBA is difficult. Winning games on the road is even more difficult. Winning away games against a team you just played the night before is an even bigger challenge.

Charlotte isn’t healthy enough or talented enough overall today to keep up with Boston’s average, but 11 points is a lot to set a team apart in the NBA. Consider that this was a two-possession game after three quarters when the two teams met last night under nearly identical circumstances, and you can see why the edge appears to be in Charlotte tonight.

While winning outright won’t be an easy task, the backcourt duo of LaMelo Ball and Tre Mann should have enough firepower to keep this thing within spitting distance.

3-star over play: The Celtics boast the best offensive rating in the NBA (123.4) while ranking 15th in the league in rushing rate. Charlotte continues to score points with a fifth-ranked offensive rating of 117.1, but ranks just 29th in the NBA with a defensive rating of 120.0.

The second night in a row should open things up a bit for both teams, so the over seems like a healthy choice given the option.

My picks this season:

ATS: 1-1 (50%)

O/U: 1-1 (50%)

Total: 2-2 (50%)
