The biggest winners and losers of the Melbourne Cup Hurdle

The draw for the 2024 Melbourne Cup Hurdle closed on Saturday evening.

Cup favorite Buckaroo was beaten by 21 goals while Irish raider Vauban, who was last year’s favourite, drew with 11 points.

SENTrack’s Miles Pfitzner took a closer look at the draw and gave his opinion on who he thinks the biggest winners and losers are.

Vauban (11): “Vauban draws 11, tick.”

Absurd (7): “Absurd drawing 7, tick.”

Strain rate (3): “Warp speed drawing 3, mark.”

Buckaroo (21): “Buckaroo’s 21, loser.”

Land Legend (18): “Land Legend comes out of gate 18, I don’t think that’s good for that. It’s a loser because of the barrier.”

Sea King (1): “Sea King draws (barrier) 1. I hate 1 in races like this. I think the Sea King lost from Gate 1.”
