Hartman’s new book, “The Hidden History of the American Dream,” traces the rise of the American middle class thanks to the progressive policies of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and its fall during the economic deregulation of the Reagan era.

He proposes an action plan to revive the American Dream, such as taxes on wealth and inheritance, support for unions and the renationalization of public spaces and transportation.

Since 2003, Hartmann has hosted the nationally syndicated radio show “The Thom Hartmann Program” and the late-night television show “The Big Picture” from 2010 to 2017.

As a journalist, he has covered many of the world’s hot spots, including Egypt, Uganda, Colombia, India and the Philippines. He also helped establish famine relief programs, schools and refugee centers in these countries.

He wrote the 10-book Hidden History series about American history and numerous politically oriented books. Hartmann is also a psychotherapist and has written about attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
