Florida Senator on Trump Rally at Madison Square Garden, Liz Cheney’s Comments and More

(CBS, KYMA/KECY) – Florida Senator Marco Rubio spoke with Margaret Brennan on Face the Nation Sunday to discuss the final messages of the Trump-Vance campaign.

Brennan also asked Rubio about racist remarks Trump made at the Trump rally at Madison Square Garden.

“The comedian made a joke and it was tasteless, but it wasn’t Trump who said it… This guy won’t be in his office. This comedian will not be a member of his government. ran for anything. He was a comedian who always told tasteless jokes. I encourage everyone to…well, I guess watch clips of the Tom Brady roast and you’ll see the jokes he makes. …But I think what’s more important is the fact that the sitting President of the United States said out loud what most people in the Democratic Party and hierarchy believe, which is that anyone who votes for Donald Trump is trash, a racist , a hater, is a Nazi because their vice presidential candidate accused everyone who attended the Madison Square Garden rally, a week ago MSNBC ran images of Nazi rallies in Germany next to images from Madison Square Garden. So you asked me why they are so confident of winning as the Harris people say, then why are you, and not Donald Trump, attacking anyone who thinks about voting? for him, by labeling them: if you vote for Donald Trump, you are an evil, terrible person. This doesn’t sound like the actions of a confident campaign. I think it sounds like the actions of a frightened person.”

Brennan also asked Rubio about the Trump campaign’s plan to appeal to female voters.

“I want to point out, and no one is talking about this, Kamala Harris has a bigger problem among men than Donald Trump has among women. Are there any women who are going to vote for Kamala Harris? Certainly. Are there women who aren’t voting for Kamala Harris? Do I like Donald Trump? Certainly. Are there women who will support Donald Trump? Yes, there are many of them. And I think you’ll see that confirmed on Election Day. This election will be about the question: when people vote, they won’t vote on three issues that matter most to them: how much does it cost to live in this country and whether you can afford it. things that people work hard to afford because they haven’t felt safe or secure in the last four years. And the answer is no, people don’t feel safe when there’s a dangerous criminal in front of you? elements entered this country through the open border that Kamala Harris allowed. And number three: how close is this country to being embroiled in some kind of global conflict? We now have troops from North Korea side by side with the Russians in Ukraine. Every month we move closer to a broader global conflict that could involve the United States. And guess who will have to fight in these wars? The sons, daughters and children of the people who will decide this election, and that includes more than half the country, are women voters. That’s what’s going to be on people’s minds, and that’s what should be on their minds because that’s what’s at stake in this election.”

Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL), Vice Chairman of the Intelligence Committee

During the interview, Brennan and Rubio talked about Trump’s Recent Comments About Liz Cheney.

“What he expressed is not something new. It’s a sentiment that’s been expressed by people in both parties for decades, which is: You’re all for war, and it’s easy to be for war when you’re in some fancy building and you’re safe and sound in Washington, DC. Let’s see how prepared you are for war when you yourself are sent into battle. That’s what he was saying, that he’s using language that may not be what we typically use. hearing from someone who works at a think tank is good. But I think it’s really, and not just unfair, it’s blatant to see it reported as it is, along with other things I’ve never seen. concerted effort – and look, I’ve always believed that there is bias because no one is unbiased, but I’ve never seen such a concerted effort as what I’ve seen, especially in the last two weeks, among a lot of the media in this country. in some cases, breathlessly distort and lie about what is being said, and create and fabricate these points against Donald Trump. I’ve never seen this before.”

Brennan also asked Rubio about the Chinese hacking of American telecommunications systems, which Rubio’s colleague, Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), said was “the most serious breach he has ever seen in his time on the committee.”

When asked whether China has access to audio recordings of American telephone conversations, Rubio replied:

“I’m not going to comment on what they have access to, but I agree with Mark Warner’s statement. This is a blatant, outrageous and dangerous violation of our telecommunications systems across several companies. I’ll leave it at that. I think as Continues goes on, we’re going to learn more about it. Some of them will be made public. I think there is still a lot to find out. This is a very serious situation we are facing. And I think she’s quite threatening, or maybe not. directly to the elections as such, but, of course, to the further development of the national security of our country. This is a vulnerability that no one imagined or expected, but here it is.”
