NYT Connections Tips and Answers Today – Monday, November 4 (#512)

Today’s Connections Answer – Tips to help you solve the problem

Unlike our guide to Today’s Wordle Answerwhere we recommend best Wordle starting words As your strategy, solving Connections is based on identifying connecting categories among 16 words. The difficulty level of each category is indicated by color; yellow is the easiest grouping, and purple is the most complex. Once you make 4 mistakes in your guesses, the answers will be revealed, so hints may be helpful.

If you need hints for solving the groupings, here are the topics for each grouping based on order of difficulty:

Yellow: Equip
Green: Being, character, ego, self.
Blue: Furniture
Violet: Words with apostrophes have been removed.

Here’s a bigger hint: Today’s puzzle is disarmingly literal and impossible to embellish. Add a little feng shui to your mind palace and you’ll be fine.

Today’s Connections Answers

So what are Connections’ responses to game #512 today?

Drum roll please…

Equip: Furnishings, equipment, provisions, inventory
Individuality: Being, character, ego, self
Furniture: Chest of drawers, console, dressing table, wardrobe
Words with apostrophes removed: Jamb, id, shell, were

I stumbled upon the purple category solution first, but not before crossing out three times while trying to connect Ego and Id with any other words I remembered from Psych 101. Turns out it was a trap and I fell for it hard. Instead of thinking about Kant, I should have looked more closely at Kant and what he was missing. I thought, of course, that the Connections Crew wouldn’t What diabolical… and I’ll get better.

That left only “Ego” to connect with all the other egocentric words I’ve tried before like “Being,” “Character” and, well, “I” to complete the green category.

I almost tried Vanity among them, but stopped at the last second when I realized that Wardrobe was another clue. When thinking about furniture, the chest and console stood out quite easily.

The simplest category remains: today’s mechanical filling with trim, equipment, provisions and supplies.

Answers to questions “Yesterday’s Connections”

Reading this in a later time zone? Here are the Connections answers for game #511, which had a difficulty score of 2.2 out of 5, according to Connectivity Companion.

I started yesterday’s puzzle with the blue category. Years ago, I spent my first year of college studying law, so when I spotted Rumor, I wasn’t fooled by the Connection Crew’s ploy of muddying the waters with other sensual words like “Touch” and “Feeling.” When I was looking for more legal language, “Inquest”, “Trial” and “Court” easily stood out.

I thought that clues like “Touch” and “Feel” probably had something to do with each other, but it turned out to be another dead end. Instead, “Touch” fell into today’s yellow category, along with other touching adjectives such as “touching,” “sweet” and “tender.” Meanwhile, “Feeling” fell into the green category, along with other ways of describing assumptions such as “Premonition,” “Impression,” and “Feeling.”

The purple color remains as today’s mechanical fill. At first I thought this category might be some kind of pun on the concept/cents theme that includes Money and Listening, but it’s actually much simpler than that.
