Hanson shares advice with Billie Eilish and FINNEAS on how to stay indie

“It’s always fun to meet your peers who you’ve influenced,” says Zach Hanson.

“We were sitting in our studio with Billie Eilish and FINNEAS when they were in town and their parents were talking to us and saying, ‘Basically, we decided they should make music because we saw Hanson and you guys , looked like you were fine.” ” Taylor recalls. “It’s crazy… and here they are, they’ve done an incredible, amazing job.”

Other artists, the brothers say, visited Hanson simply in search of new music. “In the same studio, Ed Sheeran, when he was opening for Taylor Swift, said, ‘I want to play you some songs.’ … And you just say, “This is really fun!” Isaac laughs.

Hanson is currently celebrating 20 years since going independent and founding his own label, 3CG Records, where they released their third album. Under. The band is touring North America in support of the deluxe re-release. Bottom: Completed.

“These songs are richer, more layered, we produced a lot of them,” Taylor says of Under. “This record works really well live, and it’s fun to go back and really get into these songs,” including the radio hit “Penny and Me.”

In a wide and free chat with Billboard News, the Hanson brothers also talk about their foray into brewing with their Mmmhops Pale Ale, which has also received a re-release along with a new beer, Pink Moonlight Hazy Peach IPA, created in collaboration with renowned independent craft brewery Destihl.
