There’s always a connection to Wisconsin, even when Vice President Kamala Harris makes a surprise appearance on “Saturday Night Live.”

Harris, who left Milwaukee Saturday morning after stay here for the night after it election rally and concert in West Allis appeared at the “SNL” cold open with Maya Rudolph, who plays Harris on the show regularly.

The cold open referenced recent rallies her opponent, former Republican President Donald Trump, held in Wisconsin.

In one scene, James Austin Johnson, who plays Trump, was wearing an orange reflective vest similar to the one Trump attended a rally near Green Bay on Wednesday. Trump wore the vest to draw attention to President Joe Biden’s comments in which he appeared to calling Trump supporters “trash” after a comedian at a Trump rally called Puerto Rico a “floating island of garbage.”

The actor echoed Trump’s comment about protecting women ‘whether women like it or not’, drawing attention harsh criticism from Harris and othersbefore facing a broken microphone like the one that pissed off Trump Friday night during his rally at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.

Harris then appeared as Rudolph’s mirror image to offer advice.

“I’m just here to remind you: You got this,” Harris said. “Because you can do something that your opponent cannot do. You can open doors.”

“I see what you did there. Like a garbage truck, right?” Rudolph said before bursting into Harris-inspired laughter.

It was a reference to Trump struggling to open the door of the MAGA garbage truck he was driving before a rally in the Green Bay area.

Comedian John Mulaney also mentioned Wisconsin in his opening monologue when he talked about his grandfather growing up on a farm in East Troy. Mulaney again shouted out to East Troy, a village in Walworth County, talking about how his father tried to come up with words of wisdom while the comedian was recovering from substance abuse.

“He was trying to think of something wise to say. And at some point he says, “Oh yeah, I just wish Grandpa was here.” I said, ‘Dad, if grandpa was here, he’d be 118 years old, and I highly doubt he’d have any good advice on how to deal with backlash on social media,'” Mulaney said with a laugh. “Something tells me that the dairy farmer from East Troy, Wisconsin, who was too old to fight in World War II, is my favorite thing about him. He was too old for the oldest thing that ever happened; they needed every guy, and my grandfather showed up and they were like, “No, we’re good.” We are full. We won.”
