Over the past few years, there have been rumors that Toyota is planning a line of sports cars, and there are rumors of a possible revival of once popular models such as the Celica and MR2. Now adding even more fuel to the fire is a teaser that seems to be hidden in the official Toyota anime series.

An Easter egg appears in the background of a scene from Season 2, Episode 1 of the anime series Toyota GRIP. Around the 0:47 mark, during a brief pause in the racing, one of the characters stands next to a board with a list of model names scribbled on it. The board looks like a wish list for Toyota fans:

  • Supra MK6
  • Celica MK8
  • MP2 MK4
  • GR 86 MK3
  • GR GT3

The animated clip was uploaded to YouTube over a month ago by Toyota USA. This little blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment might have gone unnoticed if not for an eagle-eyed fan on Supra MKV Forums. User Supra93 noticed the names on the board, took a screenshot and immediately shared it with the rest of the Toyota enthusiast community.

The list does not mention the GR Yaris and GR Corolla hot hatchbacks or a full-fledged version of the rumored Toyota GR SUV. Again, these models are refined versions of regular five-door cars, while the animators seem to have focused on actual sports coupes. Another interesting point is the sketch of the fourth generation Celica liftback in the upper right corner next to the disassembled view of the transmission.
