A Port Huron officer and driver suffered minor injuries in a crash at 24th and Dove.

A Port Huron police officer and another driver suffered minor injuries in the crash at the intersection of 24th and Dove streets.

The accident happened around 2:24 a.m. Saturday. Assistant Port Huron Police Chief Jeremy Young said the officer was driving his patrol car south on 24th Street through the intersection when another driver headed east on Dove Street in a Dodge Ram reportedly ran a flashing red light. and crashed into the officer’s car.

Young said the crash caused the Dodge Ram to overturn and cause serious damage to both vehicles. Both drivers were transported to McLaren Port Huron with minor injuries.

The driver of the Dodge Ram was ticketed for running a red light, Young said.
