Eight weeks later, one of Harris’ debates still irritates Trump

Ahead of the first and only presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, the Democratic campaign showed off its punches. The Vice President planned to spook the former President, lure him into obvious traps and exploit his easily fiery temperament.

Harris ended up doing exactly thatAt one point, he even invited people to attend a Trump campaign event and noticed “that people were starting to leave his rallies early, out of fatigue and boredom.” The Democrat suggested that her Republican opponent would not be able to maintain his composure. and she was right.

Nearly eight weeks later, Trump is still talking about it.

“We have big rallies. You know, we have 50,000,” the GOP candidate said Sunday in Pennsylvania. “It’s interesting that during the debate she said, ‘Oh, your debates aren’t very interesting and everyone leaves early.’ And then I go, I go, because when someone says something, I think you have to refute it, right. I said, “No. There is never an empty space in my debates, and no one ever leaves early.” No one ever left early. (I’m guessing when he said “debate” I meant “rally”.)

He said the same thing a couple of days ago at an event in Arizona. Speaking of Harris, Trump said“When that mean sack said during the debate, ‘Oh, your rallies aren’t being attended and people are leaving,’ they aren’t leaving.” He went on to say that “no one leaves early,” adding, “This has never happened before.”

In other words, nearly eight weeks after Harris provoked him into talking about her campaign events, Trump is still thinking about it, talking about it, and trying to deny it.

Part of the problem, of course, is that it’s really pathetic. But what’s equally remarkable is that the former president is clearly and blatantly wrong: his recent events feature all sorts of empty seats and footage of people heading for the exits as he speaks.

I lost count of how many video Recently I saw people leaving Trump rallies during his speechin addition to events in which there are all kinds of empty spaces.

At one point in late September, Republicans went so far as to say that if people saw footage of people leaving one of his events early, they shouldn’t believe it because they only Seems, We’re leaving early.

It’s hard not to wonder if Harris had any idea before the debate how much that one phrase would bother Trump for the rest of the 2024 race.
