Hero father dies after throwing himself in front of an out-of-control car to save his family

(Gray News) – A California man has died after pushing his family out of the way of an out-of-control car that hit him while he was in Texas.

On October 25, Adam Bouvet, 50, traveled with his wife Tracy and daughter to Dallas to visit his eldest daughter and grandson.

The family had just had lunch together and were walking home when the driver suddenly lost control of the car. according to a Facebook post posted by his wife.

The car careened onto the pavement and hit Adam, Tracy and their daughter Sydney.

Adam took the brunt of the blow, causing a traumatic brain injury, and was rushed to hospital for emergency surgery. KTLA reports this.

After spending several days in the intensive care unit, he later died from his injuries.

“I believe he took the hit to save us all,” Tracy wrote in her post. “He’s my hero. The love of my life, my best friend, my best husband.”

A GoFundMe page was created to help the family during this difficult time.

The family has raised more than $146,000 so far.
