Because Luthor would not give up revenge on Lois Lane, his daughter Elizabeth, who was played by Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. alumna Elizabeth Henstridge advised him to stay out of his life forever, as she would not expose her future son to such hatred. Well, as we see at the beginning of When the Lights Go On, Luthor is once again taking the loss of Elizabeth very hard, as evidenced by him resorting to violence in his hotel room and burning his photograph of Elizabeth as a girl and all the documents he gathered to track her down. But by the time Amanda McCoy returned again, he had regained his cool and given her new instructions, including handing over the schematics for an unknown device so that his hired scientist named Milton could build it as soon as possible.

Lex Luthor’s efforts to establish LexCorp’s new headquarters in Smallville (again, all his efforts to pursue Lois) were hampered by bureaucratic red tape thanks to Mayor Lana Lang, and in this episode it seemed like he had finally gotten over it by offering resident Edie Manning $5 million for her land. However, she changed her mind in part due to the convincing words of Lana and Clark, with the latter especially influencing her since, like many other Smallville residents, she learned that Clark was Superman. Luthor responded by offering $10 million to not only Aidy, but everyone else at the bar where she was supposed to sign the papers, but the other Smallville residents convinced her not to comply as they knew whatever Luthor was up to would not be good. for the community.

Upset by Lana Lang’s interference, Luthor disabled the security system in her home and sent his henchman Otis Grisham to turn on the gas in her home and kill her. When Lana woke up due to the smell and turned off the stove, Otis tried to do the deed with his own two hands, and only thanks to Sarah taking a baseball bat to his head, he was stopped. Understandably, Clark was furious at how close to death his friend was, so he called Luthor to the center of Smallville to force him to retreat once and for all.

However, Luthor had a trick up his sleeve: he ordered Milton to rig all the street lights in the area to emit red sun energy, thus robbing Clark Kent of all his superhuman abilities. The two ended up fighting one after the other outside in the pouring rain, and soon both men were bloodied. Luckily, Clark emerged victorious and demanded that Luthor leave Smallville and never return. Luthor complied, but upon returning to Metropolis, Amanda McCoy (who had decided to give him her full support) informed him that his approach to neutralizing Superman was completely wrong, and that he needed to get a “killer suit”. Sarah leaves Smallville to study abroad

If you’ve been following Superman and Lois from the beginning (and for those who need a refresher, the first three seasons can be streamed from Maximum subscription), you know that Sarah Cortez has been through a lot, from almost committing suicide before the events of the series to being charged with drunk driving in the third season. Lately, aside from special events like her father’s near-wedding to Chrissy Beppo, Sarah’s life mostly consists of working at the diner and sleeping. She longed for freedom and a new start in life, and although she can’t fly anywhere like Jonathan and Jordan, in “When the Lights Come On” she told her mom that she wanted to go abroad for her first year of school. school.

Lana was initially skeptical that this was the right move for her daughter, but after the incident with Otis, she decided that Sarah should study abroad not only to keep her away from Lex Luthor’s machinations, but also because she deserved a chance see the world. . When Sarah met with Jordan and Jonathan the next morning, she told them that she planned to go to either Santiago, Chile, or Greece for her freshman year, and boysfeeling a little naughty, he decided to help her make a decision by sending her to the Greek islands.

It remains unclear whether we’ll see Sarah again sooner. Superman and Lois ended, but given that Inde Navarrette previously said that she will only appear in three episodes of season 4then “When the Lights Come On” would be the trio’s final song. I hope that doesn’t happen because I’d like to see Sarah say goodbye to Eric Valdez’s Kyle Cushing before she goes off to study abroad. But if When the Lights Go On really is the last we see of Sarah, at least we know she’s going to do great things.
