Election Day will get off to a cloudy start on Tuesday morning | Weather forecast on FOX 26

Multiple hazards are being monitored in Southeast Texas as Election Day is less than 24 hours away. A coastal flood advisory and high risk of rip currents remains in place for our coastal communities due to windy conditions until Tuesday morning. Tonight it will be windy with some scattered showers and possibly a thunderstorm. However, a large line of storms is expected to move through early Tuesday on Election Day, from about 3 to 9 a.m. There is little risk of a few severe storms, with the main threat being a few damaging wind gusts and large hail. Heavy rain will also pose a risk, which could lead to flooding in several streets. The most active weather will be in the morning, followed by cooler temperatures and scattered showers in the afternoon and evening. A few showers could continue through the end of the week as temperatures rise back into the 80s. Tropical Storm Rafael has formed in the Caribbean and is expected to become a hurricane by Wednesday. It will pass over parts of Jamaica and Cuba before heading into the eastern Gulf of Mexico this week. Most models are now weakening Rafael as it approaches the Gulf Coast and keeps it east of Texas.
