How ChatGPT Search Paves the Way for AI Agents

How ChatGPT Search Paves the Way for AI Agents

“Sometimes these patterns seem really amazing at reasoning, but they’re really good at pretending, and it only takes a little work on them to break them,” he says.

Gaudement admits there is still much work to be done. In the short term, AI models like o1 should be much more reliable, faster and cheaper. In the long term, the company needs to apply its chain of thought technique to a wider range of use cases. OpenAI focused on science, programming and mathematics. He now wants to move into other fields, such as law, accounting and economics, he says.

Second on the list of challenges is being able to connect different tools, according to Gaudement. An AI model’s capabilities will be limited if it has to rely only on training data. He should be able to browse the web and find relevant information. ChatGPT search is one powerful way that OpenAI’s new tools can now do this.

These tools must be able to not only receive information, but also take action in the real world. Competitor Anthropic has announced a new feature that allows its chatbot Claude to “use” computer for example, interacting with its interface by clicking on objects. This is an important feature for agents if they are going to perform tasks such as booking airline tickets. Gaudement says o1 can “sort of” use tools, although not very reliably, and that research into tool use is a “promising development.”

Godemont said he expects adoption of artificial intelligence for customer support and other assistant-related tasks to grow over the next year. However, he says it is difficult to predict how people will accept and use OpenAI’s technology.

“Honestly, when I look back every year, I’m surprised by use cases that I never expected,” he says. “I expect there will be quite a few surprises that you know none of us will be able to predict.”

This AI-powered version of Minecraft could represent the future of real-time video creation.

When you’re walking through artificial intelligence companies Decart and Etched’s version of the video game Minecraft, you feel a little out of place. Of course, you can move forward, cut down a tree and place a block of dirt, just like in real life. However, if you turn around, the block of land you just placed can turn into a completely new environment. This doesn’t happen in Minecraft. But this new version is created entirely by artificial intelligence, so it is prone to hallucinations. Not a single line of code was written.
