Elon Musk receives one last insult before voters go to the polls

Fresh from it victory in the courtroom yesterdayTech billionaire turned political operative Elon Musk entered X and posted a QAnon video.

Sixty-second video has fashion aesthetics, An art style popular among the far right on the Internet that combines fascist memes with a retro sweep style. The video mixes footage of Donald Trump from the 1980s to today with military footage and scenes of docile suburban American life.

At 36 seconds, the word “Patriots” appears on the screen, dims and turns into “PATRIQTS”. The rest of the letters disappear, leaving only Q. “We will drive out the globalists… we will drive out the communists,” Trump says in blurry imagery as Van Halen’s “Jump” plays. This is an obvious reference to QAnon conspiracy. One popular part of the conspiracy theory is that Trump will one day utter a magic code word that will activate sleeper cells loyal to Trump across the country that will arrest and execute his political enemies.

Musk obtained the video from the account of West Bestern, a blue-check user named X, who has spent the last few weeks online searching for Trump and posting similar content. The account’s banner references both anti-transgender and anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. In January, the account shared a racist meme about Amazon delivery drivers and named the company AmaZog, another reference to anti-Semitic conspiracy theory.

These are the people Musk is promoting on his platform on the last day of the election.

Musk’s X-channel has been filled with pro-Trump messages and photos of missiles for days. Since joining Trump in the summer, the billionaire has spent a lot of time and money promoting his preferred candidate on a website he owns. According to research from the Center to Counter Digital Hate, Musk’s posts generated approximately 17 billion views from July. The study says this is equivalent to spending $24 million on advertising campaigns. Musk paid $44 billion to buy Twitter.

The quality of these views remains to be seen. Not every eyeball is an endorsement, and many of us still using X feel like we’re trapped on a site with Musk. Anyone who scrolls through the “For You” tab will automatically be forced to see some of the dumb bullshit Musk posted.

Currently, Musk’s feed mainly consists of clips taken from his recent performance with Joe Rogan. Last night, the popular podcast published a newly recorded episode with Musk and officially endorsed Trump for president. Rogan posting Musk’s video and showing his support so close to November 5th is a little strange. More than 78 million Americans have already voted, and while early voting has declined overall, it has increased significantly in key swing states like North Carolina and Georgia. Tens of millions of people have already made their decision, and they are completely out of reach for such a last-minute stunt.

Among the curated clips Musk chose to share were videos of him talking about P’Nut Squirrelranting about immigrants and voter ID laws, and declaring that if Kamala Harris wins, it will the last election America ever held. Another popular theme in these clips was misinformation, the lies of the mainstream media, and the power of X as a bastion of truth. This is all a lot from the guy who reposted a video of an anonymous blue check spreading nonsense about the Zionist occupied government.

On election eve, Musk was scheduled to appear at a Channel X town hall for the final rally in support of Trump. It didn’t go very well. The event, which was scheduled to start at 8:00 pm EST, started 20 minutes later. The moderator tried to answer questions from the audience, but they were not heard. “Well, I think if people vote, we’ll definitely win,” Musk said during the call.

Then he canceled the whole thing. “Let’s cancel this as it looks like we’re having some technical issues.” Then he wrote all night.
