“Stop talking about it”: Trump won’t talk about how he voted to ban abortion in Florida

After voting in Palm Beach, Florida, former President Donald Trump testily told a reporter to “stop talking about it,” referring to Florida’s abortion ban.

The ban is on the ballot for millions of Floridians, as well as other states across the country.

If passed, “it would prevent state lawmakers from passing any law that would penalize, ban, delay or restrict abortions until the fetus is viable, which doctors say occurs sometime after 21 weeks.” . CBS News reports.

If that fails, the Sunshine State’s abortion ban will remain in place for six weeks, when many women still don’t know they’re pregnant.

Reporters asked Trump about his two votes for the ban, CBS News reported, but Trump initially dodged the question.

Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court two years ago, bringing abortion laws to the state level. Since states began voting on the issue, no state has enacted a strict ban on abortion.

Trump said He has done “an excellent job of bringing the case back to the states” as three of the court’s conservative justices were appointed to the nation’s highest bench under his administration, CBS News reported.

When a reporter asked how he voted a second time, Trump responded, “You should stop talking about it.”

Back in August, Trump failed on this issue and his decision changed within a day.

AP wrote that Trump “said he would vote against a bill in Florida that would end the state’s six-week abortion ban, the day after he seemed to indicate he would have voted for this measure.”
