Brewers urged to replace Willie Adams with $49 million Gold Glove Award winner

Brewers urged to replace Willie Adams with million Gold Glove Award winner

The Milwaukee Brewers were eliminated by the New York Mets in the postseason. Willie Adames is a free agent and the Brewers could be tasked with trying to replace him.

David Gasper from FanSided urged the Brewers to sign Ha-Sung Kim to replace Adames after he declined his 2025 option.

“Ha-Sung Kim has many of the qualities the Brewers look for when building their lineup. He is versatile and has excellent glove skills in all three infield positions, winning the NL Utility Gold Glove last season,” Gasper wrote. “If the Brewers have to replace Willie Adams in the infield, they will most likely do it with someone who is a strong defensive player. The infield defense of Kim, Turang and Ortiz, no matter the combination, will be the best in the league.”

Spotrac expects Kim to sign a four-year, $49 million contract as a free agent. Kim isn’t as much of a power hitter as Adames, but could still serve as a valuable asset in the Brewers’ lineup.

“Offensively, Kim is not a hitter like Adams, but he keeps up at the plate. He had his best season in 2023, hitting .260 with 17 homers, 38 stolen bases and a 107 OPS+,” Gasper wrote. “He had a down year in 2024 that ended prematurely with a shoulder injury, but he shows good speed, solid power and solid on-base ability, which should help mitigate the loss of Adames in the lineup.”

Kim is recovering from injury, but he could sign a deal similar to Rhys Hoskins, who also signed with the Brewers after suffering an injury.
