Matthew Perry’s mother says the ‘Friends’ star seemed to have a ‘premonition’ of his death | Ents and Art News

Matthew Perry’s mother said the late Friends star seemed to have a “premonition” of his death during one of their last conversations.

Perrywho played Chandler Bing in the classic American sitcom, was found unconscious in the pool at his home in Los Angeles on October 28, 2023.

An autopsy later revealed that he died from “acute effects of ketamine”.

His mother Suzanne Morrison said that in the last days she spent with her son, there was “an inevitability of what was going to happen around him, and he felt it very strongly.”

Speaking to the Today program in the US almost a year after Perry’s death, Ms Morrison added: “He said, ‘I’m not afraid anymore’… And that bothered me.”

Ms Morrison also said her son was showing her “one of his new houses” when he approached her and said: “I love you so much, I’m so happy to be with you now.”

“It was almost like a premonition or something.

“I didn’t think about it at the time, but I thought, ‘How long has it been since we’ve talked like this?’ Years have passed,” she said.

Perry was the only child of Ms Morrison and her ex-husband, actor John Bennett Perry.

An autopsy report obtained by US Sky News affiliate NBC News in December 2023 detailed that ketamine likely caused Perry to lose consciousness and drown.

The report also states that his existing coronary artery disease exacerbated the effects of ketamine on his heart.

Ketamine is an anti-anxiety drug that can be used as a recreational drug and also to treat depression.

The Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner’s report said Perry was “receiving ketamine infusion therapy for depression and anxiety,” with the last dose reportedly taken a week and a half before his death.

The report further states, “The ketamine in his system at the time of death could not have been the result of infusion therapy as ketamine has a half-life of three to four hours or less.”

Perry has been open about his struggles with substance abuse and addiction and created a sober living shelter for men with similar problems.

The doctor faces up to ten years in prison

Five people have been charged in connection with Perry’s death, with three pleading guilty and two facing trial.

Dr. Mark Chavez admitted the charge of conspiracy to distribute ketamine and faces up to 10 years in prison, while Perry’s assistant Kenneth Iwamasa pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine resulting in death.

The fact is that Eric Fleming, an acquaintance of the actor, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to distribute ketamine and one count of distribution of ketamine resulting in death.

Meanwhile, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, known as “Doctor P,” will appear in court on March 4 next year on charges of using Iwamasa to distribute ketamine to the actor.

He will stand trial alongside Jaswin Sangha, described in the documents as the “Ketamine Queen”, who allegedly sold Perry ketamine for $11,000 (£8,553) in cash.
