Election Security Updates: More hoax bomb threats hit Atlanta area

Voters in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, waited in line for as long as seven hours to cast their ballots at a polling station near Lehigh University, an official confirmed to ABC News.

Spokesman Scott Hough, vice chairman of the Northampton County Board of Elections, said the wait was due to a voting machine breakdown at one precinct.

A judge rejected Pennsylvania Democrats’ request to keep that polling place open until 10 p.m., but will allow all voters in line at 8 p.m. to cast their ballots.

The state Democratic Party asked a judge to extend the deadline, arguing that the Northampton County Board of Elections “failed to provide sufficient voting machines and staff to accommodate” voters.

“Long wait times due to lack of equipment and staff resulted in voters potentially being unable to vote during the opening and closing times of polling places,” the petition states.
