Local business is offering parent voters a free hour of child care on Election Day.

MT. JULIET, Tenn. (WTVF) — While Tuesday is the most important day of the year for voters and politicians, many students in our area are out of school.

This means some parents have to choose between bringing their children to the polls or finding child care.

MeTime, a child care provider in Mount Juliet and Murfreesboro, has a special offer to help parents voting on Election Day.

“I have four kids, and I know it’s not always easier to get things done when you take everyone with you,” said Sarah Bullock, owner of MeTime.

At two MeTime locations, Bullock provided one free hour of child care to everyone who voted.

“When you come back, all you have to do is show us your sticker that you voted for,” Bullock said.

Bullock got the idea to offer this service from friends involved with the Wilson County Democratic Party.

She decided to take on the project herself and invite all voters to participate.

“I felt it was important to let everyone know that we want to be inclusive and it doesn’t matter what party you belong to. This is just an opportunity to exercise your right to vote,” Bullock said.

Bullock said this was a chance to help people in her community make their voices heard.

“We just wanted to give all parents an opportunity, and if you really want to go vote, we wanted to help you get there,” Bullock said.

She carries on her husband’s legacy to raise money for Alzheimer’s research.

I am so inspired by Sheila Gunn’s love for her husband and her resilience. Anyone who has lost a loved one to Alzheimer’s disease knows how cruel the disease is—not only to the patient, but to those who love and care for them. Mike and Sheila clearly had a wonderful love story, and now she honors it in the most beautiful way. Thanks to Forrest Sanders for sharing his story.
