Franklin County Children’s Services Fee Receives Strong Voter Support

Franklin County’s 2024 child services tax, known as Issue 46, is projected to pass with about 65% voter approval for a 2.5 mill extension, which includes a small increase.

Chip Spinning, executive director of Franklin County Children’s Services (FCCS), thanked the community for its support.

“Here in Franklin County, we all believe that every child in our community deserves to feel safe at home—safe from the fear of abuse and neglect—and sometimes families need a little help to make that possible,” Spinning said. “And thanks to voters, Franklin County Children’s Services will have the resources we need to help keep children safe and families stronger for the long haul.”

Spinning emphasized the importance of the collection to continue the agency’s work. With the passage of our tax, we will be able to continue our necessary work to protect children by strengthening families,” he said. “We know that making children safer today is not a one-size-fits-all solution. This requires a comprehensive strategy that emphasizes protecting the whole child and addressing mental health and social-emotional issues.”

Spinning emphasized the collection’s role in supporting local prevention programs and providing resources for relatives and family friends who care for children when parents are unable to do so.

“On behalf of our dedicated FCCS team, we once again share our gratitude for the vote of confidence you have given us,” Spinning said. “We believe there are no more important missions than working together with our community to help keep children safe and strengthen families for years to come. Your support makes this possible. Thank you”.
