Live 2024 Election Results in Georgia: Trump Predicted to Win

ABC News projects former President Donald Trump to win Georgia over Vice President Kamala Harris.

Georgia is considered a key battleground in this year’s presidential election after turning blue in 2020 for the first time in decades.

The winner of the state receives 16 electoral votes.

Polls are closed in fluctuating state.

National significance

In 2016, Georgia went to Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton, but by a smaller margin than previous Republican candidates. In 2020, President Joe Biden flipped a reliably red state blue by about 12,000 votes out of more than 5 million cast.

Trump disputed the 2020 results, but the first-ever risk-limiting audit, which entailed a manual recount of the counties of every vote cast, confirmed Biden’s victory. The former president now faces eight criminal charges in Georgia in connection with his alleged efforts to overturn his loss there.

Late Tuesday, Georgia Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said at a news conference that “Donald Trump has an insurmountable lead in the vote.”

“It looks like it’s pretty much done,” he said. “I think the results are pretty well accounted for.”

The race for the down-ballot state includes Democrat Lucy McBath, who is seeking a fourth term, Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene, who is seeking re-election, and former Trump aide Brian Jack, who is running for Congress for the first time.

The state also helped Democrats win control of the U.S. Senate by winning both runoff elections in 2020. However, there are no Senate races in Georgia this year.

Counties are colored red or blue when the expected vote percentage report reaches a set threshold. That threshold varies by state and is based on past election reporting patterns and expectations for how this year’s polls will turn out.
